Since re-opening the bar three weeks ago, we have taken every precaution to ensure the safety & wellbeing of both our staff and customers. During lockdown we took the opportunity to completely redecorate the venue, both front & rear of house and then added the perspex shields, sanitising units, signage, one-way systems and installed a Virtual Check-in for anyone who entered the building. We also dramatically reduced the capacity of the bar from 189 to 64 customers allowing for 1 metre distancing between groups whilst eating & drinking in the bar safely.
Sadly, as of midday today, we have been informed by a customer who had previously visited The Hawthorn Bar, that he has tested positively for Covid-19 and that he visited us between 12pm and 3pm on Saturday 1st August. He was not showing any symptoms at the time & was only tested after being contacted by NHS Track & Trace. We have had no official contact from Aberdeen City Council or NHS Track & Trace, but have now put in place our own procedures, which have been prepared for such an instance.
We have now closed the bar immediately and will undertake a deep clean tonight & tomorrow. We voluntarily called a meeting with the Environmental Health Department, who after their initial inspection prior to opening have again praised the cleanliness, actions and procedures which we have in place at McNastys. Our own Virtual Check-In has allowed us to specifically contact all customers who logged in on Saturday, and we are now in the process of contacting each one individually.
All of our staff are being tested accordingly and on the basis that these results are all negative, we intend to re-open the bar later in the week, following discussions with the Environmental Health team.
Although we are not required to do so, we believe that transparency and openness is vital during these very testing times and by keeping our valued customers informed of any such occurrence and detailing our reaction to it, this is key to operating in a safe environment.
Naturally, we hope that the customer in question makes a full & quick recovery and that we will be in a position to welcome our other customers back later in the week.
We appreciate all your continued support.
